So you are thinking of taking a babymoon? There are lots of exotic locations around the world that you can take a babymoon from beautiful zika free beach babymoons in the Carribean to some great winter sun babymoons such as Dubai. But what if you want a staycation babymoon in the UK? In this guide we round up the best UK babymoon destinations for pregnant couples from the best UK Beach babymoons, best cities and best rural retreats int he UK to travel to while pregnant.
Best UK Babymoon Destinations for Beach Lovers
The UK has some beautiful beaches and with the right weather they can rival any beach on earth. MY favourite beach babymoons in the UK are:
Cornwall Babymoon
Whenever I think about a relaxing beach getaway in the UK the first place that springs to mind for me is Cornwall. Cornwall has some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK and in good weather they can rival any beach on earth in my opinion. Some of our favourite beaches such as Porthcurno and Praa Sands are near the southern most tip of the UK near Penzance and a a perfect place for a relaxing babymoon.
There are also some amazing options for accommodations for pregnant couples in Cornwall including some luxury adults only retreats – many of which even have babymoon packages. Some of the best Cornwall babymoon packages can be found at:
- The Scarlet – click here for reviews and rates
- St Michaels Resort – click here for reviews and rates
Another highly rated hotel in Cornwall is the Bedruthan Hotel and Spa which would also make a perfect luxurious babymoon.
However even if you are visiting Cornwall in the rain or Winter there are plenty of things to do. From some great museums like the Tate St Ives, Penlee House Gallery and the Maritime Museum to some relaxing spas there really is something to do in Cornwall no matter the weather. This is my top pick for a babymoon in the UK if you are looking for a beach.
Babymoon in Devon

Soar Mill Cove – the perfect UK babymoon destination
Another great choice for a UK babymoon is Devon. When we head to Devon we head to our favourite seaside town of Salcombe. Salcombe is a great town to visit as it is full of beautiful shops and restaurants and just a nice and compact place to go for a stroll while pregnant.
When we stay in Devon we head to Soar Mill Cove. This family run hotel is located a short drive from the town of Salcombe and feels beautifully remote but has everything you need on site. From an amazing on site restaurant, spa, pool and its own beach that is just a short walk away it is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax.

Northumberland Babymoon
The weather in Northumberland can be slightly more temperamental that in Cornwall or Devon but it’s beaches are no less beautiful. Our favourite beach in Northumberland is Bamburgh where the beach sits overshadowed by the stunning Baburgh Castle. A day of beaches and history are my idea of heaven so this is a perfect location for me.
Alnwick also deserves a mention as a great babymoon destination in Northumberland. Home to Alnwick Castle – a Harry Potter filming location (from the Philosopher’s Stone where Harry and co are learning to fly) and also Alnwick Gardens one of my favourite garden attractions in the UK.
Best City Babymoon Destinations UK
London Babymoon
If there is a city in the UK that is amazing for babymoons it has to be London. I know that it is busy and can seem vast but the good public transport options and the amazing luxury hotels mean it is a great place to take a babymoon doing activities that you might struggle to do for the first few years of parenthood like eating at great restaurants and heading out to the theatre. If you want an activity filled babymoon then a London babymoon is probably a great choice for you. We did a London Winter Babymoon and spent four days in London just before Christmas and had a wonderful time exploring the markets and seeing the Christmas lights while also exploring some of the city’s other attractions
I would recommend indulging and staying at one of London’s top hotels – a personal favourite of mine is One Aldwych – Click here to see reviews and prices of One Aldwych. The hotel has a great spa and pool complete with underwater music and is home to the famous Charlie and the Chocolate Factory afternoon tea. It’s location in Covent Garden also means it is close to lots of great attractions.

York Babymoon
York is a perfect weekend getaway and is my personal favourite city in the UK. It is a very compact city which means it is perfect for exploring on foot. There are lots of things to do in York from exploring its’ great museums such as the National Railway Museum and Castle Museum to visiting the York Minster – in my option the best gothic cathedral in Europe.
Being a river city you can also explore the city by taking a river cruise while learning about the history of the city. Or for the more active you could explore the city by walking the city’s largely intact city walls which offer some of the best vistas of the city. No matter what time of year you visit the city there are plenty of great things to do and in Winter the city has some of the best UK Christmas Markets, light displays and in February is home to an amazing ice sculpture festival.
If you want to have a luxury babymoon in York we recommend staying at the Grand Hotel. This hotel and Spa is housed in old railway offices in a central location and bring back the golden age of train travel through its decor.

Edinburgh
The Scottish Capital is another great choice for a UK babymoon destination. Perfect for those who love history and culture. By day spend time exploring the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and if you have time head to one of the city’s amazing museums. By night, there are a wealth of high end restaurants that will add the perfect romantic touch to your babymoon.
The city also has a wealth of high end hotels that are perfect for a babymoon. The Balmoral offers a very exclusive babymoon package complete with pregnancy massages and tailored walking tours but is at the pricier end of babymoons. Click here for prices and reviews.
However if your budget doesn’t stretch to Balmoral prices don’t worry there are plenty of other great places to stay. Our friends over at Otis and Us had their babymoon in Edinburgh and stayed at The Chester. To read reviews of The Chester click here!
Best Rural Babymoon Destinations in the UK
One of my favourite UK holidays is a rural retreat. I just love getting into the beautiful UK countryside and going on long walks and visiting stately homes. Some of my favourite destinations that I think are perfect for a babymoon in UK are:
Peak District Babymoon
The Peak District is always my go to when I want to escape into the countryside. Perfect for a weekend or even to go away for a week the Peak District has loads to do. From exploring stately homes such as the beautiful Chatsworth House or Hardwick Hall to going in walks in Dovedale in the Peak District National Park there is something for everyone in the peaks.
When we head to the Peak District we like to stay in a luxury lodge. Our personal favourite is the beautiful Darwin Forest which is a short drive away from Chatsworth House but has plenty of on-site amenities including a restaurant, pool and spa.
Cotswolds Babymoon
Perfect for a weekend away or to be done as a day trip from London. The Cotswolds are a series of some of the most picturesque villages in the world and when you think about perfect rural England this is definitely what you will have in mind. There are lots of beautiful villages that you can stay in and there is no wrong answer when you look at the main villages of the Cotswolds. I personally like the village of Bourton on the Water to explore as it has lovely shops and restaurants as well as Birdland – making it the best village to go to if you are doing a babymoon with kids.
But one of the best things about doing a Cotswolds babymoon is the sheer volume of luxury hotels that offer babymoon packages such as
- Ellenborough Park and
- Dormy House to name two.
The Scottish Highlands
For a true rural retreat you might want to consider the Scottish Highlands and the beautiful Cameron House and Lodge. This property is on the banks of the stunning loch lomond. On site you will find a pool restaurant, spa and golf course making it the perfect place to escape for a babymoon in Scotland.

Quirky UK Babymoon Ideas
Portmeirion
If you want something different and are looking for a quirky UK babymoon then I would recommend Portmeirion. Portmeirion is a village in Wales that is modelled after an Italian town. We have only visited Portmeirion for a day trip however there are options to stay in the village overnight either at the Portmierion hotel or at one of the apartments in the village.
There are plenty of shops int he village for you to explore, a train around the village and a beautiful beach meaning there is plenty to do in Portmeirion even on a babymoon.

My husband and I did spa breaks for our baby moons, which was perfect. I’d love to have gone abroad however. I love the idea of a brown bump in the sun x
