Ultimate Disneyland Paris Tips and Tricks for a PERFECT trip – use early magic hours

The answer to this is absolutely yes! In fact I did travel to Disneyland Paris pregnant and had the most amazing time.

However before you start booking be aware that there will be restrictions on some of the things that you can do in the park while pregnant. Basically, there are a LOT of rides that you will not be able to go on while pregnant.

However there are other things you can do such as watch shows and parades, meet characters and enjoy some of the best restaurants at Disneyland Paris

We will tell you the best things to do at Disneyland Paris while pregnant as well as times for how to enjoy the park while expecting.

Top Tips for Visiting Disneyland Paris Pregnant

So now you know that you can visit Disneyland Paris pregnant, we will turn our attention to our tips for making your trip easier and more enjoyable.

Stay at an on site hotel

Visiting Disneyland PAris Pregnant - stay on site

Visiting Disneyland PAris Pregnant – stay on site

There is always a lot of debate on whether staying at a Disneyland Paris on site hotel is worth it. But for me, if you are travelling to Disneyland Paris pregnant it is absolutely worth it.

That is because of the extra benefits that you get by staying on-site that are useful for everyone, but are especially great for expectant moms.

For instance by staying on site some of the perks you get are:

  • You get early magic hours/ extra magic hours which you can use to go on the pregnancy friendly rides with shorts queues than during regular opening hours or your group can go on bigger rides while you sort getting your easy access card.

But most importantly the on-site Disneyland Paris hotels are so much closer to the parks you can easily head back to the hotel for a nap or rest before your evening itinerary

Also if you are visiting Disneyland Paris in August or other Summer months then I would recommend looking for one of the hotels with a pool as nice way to cool off. For instance the Disneyland hotel, Newport Bay Club, Sequoia Lodge etc. These aren’t great if you are traveling to Disneyland Paris on a budget but if you can stretch to this it might be worth it due to the added perks.

Choose the time of your visit wisely

There are definitely better times that others to travel while pregnant. During the first trimester, you are statistically more likely to experience morning sickness.

In the third trimester on the other hand, you are more likely to feel tired and uncomfortable due to the size of your baby bump, and there are also restrictions on when you can travel in relation to your due date.

Therefore we think the best time to visit Disneyland Paris pregnant is in your second trimester. Whenever we talk about babymoons we recommend the second trimester as being the best time to travel. Hopefully you will be over the worst of the morning sickness and will feel up to enjoying your trip.

What is the best park at Disneyland Paris for pregnant women?

Walt Disney Studios Disneyland Paris

Walt Disney Studios Disneyland Paris

If you are only planning on doing one day at Disneyland Paris, and want to know what the best park is, I would have to say the classic Disneyland Park.

While at both parks there are shows and meet and greets, there is just more to do at the Disneyland Park for pregnant women.

There are far more rides that are accessible to pregnant ladies, there is the parade and at this park there are also opportunities for character dining. Overall, I think pregnant ladies will find there is just way more to do at the original park versus the Walt Disney studios.

Get an Easy Access Card / Priority Bracelet

The Easy Access Card is something that Disneyland Paris offers to pregnant women in order to make their time in the park more enjoyable and to prevent them having to stand in long queues.

Basically, you go to City Hall and on presentation of a medical certificate or documents that have been certified to show you are pregnant by your doctor  you will be given a priority bracelet.  It works for both character meet and greets, but also for all the Disneyland Paris pregnant safe rides.

Although the bracelet does not guarantee you immediate access to a ride or meet and greet (though sometimes cast members will grant you immediate access), you will be given a return time equivalent to the current wait time. You will be able to wait to ride in comfort or air conditioning rather than having to stand in the long queue.

More instructions on what you need to do to get an easy access card below.

If you can afford stay at a hotel with a pool

I know the Disney hotels are more expensive but if you can splash out for a hotel with a pool like Newport Bay Club I would recommend it especially if you are going in summer.

It is a great way to cool off and also have a relaxing escape from the parks. Last time we stayed at Sequoia Lodge.

Use Mobile Ordering

It is a good idea to prepare your phone with the best Disneyland Paris apps for any Disney vacation, but especially when pregnant. Our favorite app is obviously the Disneyland paris app. Through this you can see wait time and maps but also can mobile order food which is a great time saver.

Wear very comfortable shoes

Comfy shoes are so important for any Disney day but especially so when pregnant. For a more complete guide on what to wear to Disneyland Paris check out this post.

Take Plenty of breaks

The great thing about the easy access card and the limited rides you can go is that you will have lots of time to take breaks.

From my experience of visiting Disney pregnant is that you should’t overdo it. Disney days are busy so you should take plenty of breaks, you’ve earned them. Think about the weather

It can get hot in summer and in Disneyland Paris in December is FREEZING. Be sure to pack appropriately.

Take a nap

If you are staying on site, make use of it and head back for a nap in the heat of the day or between your days entertainment and returning to the parks for the parade and fireworks

Get a Easy Access Card Aka a Pregnancy Pass at Disneyland Paris

Although you may feel a bit restricted when traveling to Disneyland Paris there are things in place to make your time in the park easier. The easy access card, also sometimes called a pregnancy pass is a pass that allows pregnant people to not have to stand in the queues.

When you go to a pregnancy safe ride, head to the exit and see a cast member. They will give you a return time (equivalent to the current queue time) and you return at this time rather than standing in line. This is a life safer when you have swollen feet, feel tired and is especially good if you are visiting Disneyland Paris in the summer.

This card also works for meet and greets with characters, queues in restaurants and shops and even for seating for shows and parade areas.

Dependent on the ride or attraction the card allows you to bring up to 4 other guests with you though some experiences may limit this to 1 or 2.

How to get an easy access card when pregnant at Disneyland Paris

In order to get an easy access card when pregnant at Disneyland Paris all you have to do is take your documentation from your doctor that confirms your pregnancy and due date and head to City Hall to see customer service.

City Hall is located just on your left as you enter the park. If you make it to Main Street then you have gone too far.

At City Hall on seeing your documents they will provide you with a priority bracelet. You will need to do this on each morning of your visit.

If you have Early Magic Hours (where you get early access to the parks if you are staying on site) you may wish considering getting the pass once this time has elapsed. During Early Magic Hours the queues are very short so you don’t want to miss the short queues while waiting for your pass.

Alternatively, and this was my preference, I would send the rest of my group to ride some of the larger thrill rides and rollercoasters that pregnant ladies can’t ride i.e. Indiana Jones, Hyperspace Mountain etc while I head to grab my pass. I personally think this is the best use of early magic hours  when pregnant.

What should I wear to Disney when pregnant?

Whenever I write about what to wear to Disneyland Paris I emphasis the importance of comfort. This is even more important when pregnant.

I recommend wearing something like the following when visiting Disneyland Paris pregnant

Comfortable Shoes

If there is one essential for Disneyland Paris it is comfortable shoes. We recommend using sneakers or trainers but anything you feel comfortable in is fine. Every day we are at Disney we clock in over 20K steps so your best shoes for walking will be required.

If you are visiting in summertime, then you will want a breathable and lightweight pair, or something like Crocs that are comfy but also breathable in the French summer heat.

Maternity Clothes

I love wearing Disney themed clothes or Disneybounding when I head to the Disney Parks and being pregnant doesn’t have to stop you.

There are some great Disney maternity t shirts like this one to be found online.

Also be sure to bring your most comfortable maternity clothes whether that be maxi skirts or shorts. You want to be comfy in the park.

Swimming Costume

Don’t forget to pack your swimming costume if you are staying at a hotel with a pool. It is a great way to cool down in the summer and can be a relaxing getaway from the business of the parks.

Disneyland Paris with toddlers and baby tips – why dumbo is the best disneyland paris rides for toddlers / Disneyland Paris when pregnant

When we speak to pregnant women about visiting Disneyland Paris the most common question we get is ” what rides can i go on at Disneyland Paris while pregnant?”

And the truth is if you are visiting Disneyland Paris when pregnant you will be restricted on what you can ride. It is really important that you follow the guidelines set on the park about what you can and can’t ride when pregnant.

Although some of the rides you can’t go on may seem gentle and suitable even for toddlers visiting Disneyland Paris, you still shouldn’t ride because

a) it may invalidate any travel insurance you have taken out,

b) it is often because of the ride restraint position which if the ride comes to a sudden stop could jolt your bump.

The best way to find out what rides you can go on at Disneyland Paris when pregnant then the best thing to do is to download the Disneyland Paris app. In this there is a feature under the rides portion of the name where you can filter for “Suitable for Expectant Mothers”.

However for the sake of thoroughness we have also included them below along with tips I found from when I visited Disneyland pregnant.

What Rides Can you Go on at Disneyland Paris When Pregnant?

disneyland pregnancy ride restrictions

Generally speaking the pregnancy safe rides at Disneyland Paris are

In the Disneyland Park:

  • Le Pays Des Contes de Fees – a lovely water boat ride attraction, and one of the unique things to do at Disneyland Paris.
  • It’s a Small World – another gentle boat ride with a love or hate it song.
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant – take a ride on a Dumbo elephant and control how high your elephant flies.
  • Disneyland Railroad – a scenic train ride around the park
  • Lancelot Carousel – a traditional carousel ride
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic – a 3d attraction that takes you some of Disney’s famous songs with some added magic
  • Orbitron – similar to the Dumbo ride but with a Jules Verne theme
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast – a dark ride with shooter elements where you help Buzz defeat the evil emperor Zorg.
  • Thunder Mesa Riverboat landing – a gentle steam boat ride around Frontierland.

  • Cars Road Trip

However, please check up to date information in the park to ensure that restrictions for rides have not changed before riding.

What Can’t you ride at Disneyland Paris Pregnant?

It often surprises people as to what rides you can not go at Disneyland Paris pregnant. For instance some of the toddler friendly rides at Disneyland Paris are not suitable for pregnant women due to the lap bar, some drops and other ride mechanisms that can be a risk for pregnancy.

Some of the rides that come into this category include:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Ratatouille

What Can I do when I visit Disneyland Paris Pregnant

On top of the rides that have been listed above, there are lots of things that you can do at Disney when pregnant. My favorite things included:

Main Street Vehicles

Although I see the vehicles on Main Street on every trip at Disneyland Paris, I usually rush straight past these to start my Disneyland Paris itinerary.

When pregnant, there aren’t so many rides to go on so why not slow down the pace of your day and try hopping on one of the Main Street vehicles.

There are lots of variety of vehicles though my daughter always loves the horse drawn ones best. It is a great way to people watch, take in the sights of Main Street and feel like a character on parade as everyone waves at you

Explore the Castle

Disneyland Paris at Christmas

In my opinion the castle at Disneyland Paris is one of the most beautiful from around the world. Exploring the castle should be on your Disneyland Paris bucket list whatever however pregnancy gives you the perfect excuse to have a good explore.

See the Dragon

One of the most unique things to do at Disneyland Paris is seeing the dragon under the castle. No other Disney castle in the world has a dragon so be sure to stop by and take some pictures.

Enjoy the Shows

The shows at Disneyland Paris are one of my favourite things to do on any trip. My personal favourite is the seasonal Mickey and the Magician show. Be sure to show your easy access pass to ensure you Donn’t have to queue

Meet Characters

Character Meet and Greets are some of my favourite things to do at any Disneyland Park from Disneyland California to Tokyo Disney. And Disneyland Paris does not disappoint on the character front.

If you see the cast member at the meet and greet spot they will happily use your priority bracelet and give you a return time.

The Maze

Another fun thing to do at Disneyland Paris is the Alice in Wonderland maze. If it’s not too hot for you and you don’t mind a bit of walking head and see how long it takes you to solve the Alice in Wonderland maze.

This is one of my little girl’s favourite things to do in Fantasyland.

Draw at animation studio

Over at the Walt Disney Studios park, one of my favourite things to do while pregnant at Disneyland Paris is to do a session at the animation studio. The animation studio will teach you how to draw one of your favourite Disney characters. It is also a great Disneyland Paris souvenir.

Do a character dining experience

Merida and a girl - Meeting Princesses at Disneyland Paris Auberge De Cendrillon

Meeting Princesses at Disneyland Paris Auberge De Cendrillon

I’m not going to lie – doing a character dining experience at Disneyland Paris is not cheap and not something I would recommend if you are visiting Disneyland Paris on a budget. However if you have some money to splurge consider doing a dining experience.

Disneyland Paris currently offers the following character dining experiences

While none of the character dining experiences guarantee that you can specific characters they do normally guarantee a certain number.

While all the dining experiences offer a great experience, if you are pregnant and traveling to Disneyland Paris in the summer you might want to consider booking a lunch as this will get you out of the worst part of the heat.

Please note: dining experiences book up quick and usually open 90 days before your visit. Be sure to check when the dates open for your trip and book early to avoid disappointment.

Enjoy the fireworks

The fireworks at Disneyland Paris are a huge highlight for me. Be sure to check the times before travel. You may want to have rest before you go into the park for the parade and fireworks so staying on site would be helpful in this instance.

And depending on the time of year and what season you are visiting, there may also be drone shows to enjoy.

Watch the parade

The parade is always a must on any Disneyland Paris itinerary. Be sure to use your easy access card to get a good spot.
